The Emerald Centre's primary role is to meet the needs of the Irish community in Leicestershire and the local community, particularly those people who are most in need. The centre also offers excellent sport and social facilities. The centre is open 7 days per week and delivers a wide range of training and community development programmes. Current programmes include: 2 senior citizen luncheon group - Emerald Seniors Group and Pragati Asian group, disability groups, creative play.Our impact on the community
1000 plus people attend weekly. We deliver recreational, educational, and social activities. This includes a befriending scheme supporting vulnerable elders reducing isolation and re-integrating them into mainstream provision. Service users report that they feel better for participating in the activities - this includes better health as a result of exercise or from learning about health issues or healthy eating. Feedback from some of our elders "I don't know what I would do without the Centre".
