Energy Alton is a community group for Alton (and surrounding villages) which provides information and advice, and stimulates discussion and action, to "boost sustainability at home and in the community". Specifically, we offer free home energy surveys and advice on saving energy, reducing fuel costs and carbon emissions, organise public talks and films, and focus on specific environmental issues such as the reduction of single-use plastic waste. We are all volunteers, no paid staff.
Why the community needs usWe offer information and advice on energy efficiency, climate change and many other environmental issues. We communicate directly with people and through public talks and films.
Our impact on the communityReduced costs and carbon emissions for individual households. Greater awareness among citizens of Alton and surrounding villages of environmental sustainability issues, including climate change. About 30-50 people come to Energy Alton public events. We reach many others through stalls at events in the town, and our newsletter goes to approx. 1,000 people
