Education Through Expeditions (ETE) is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company that was founded by Plymouth-born Polar Explorer, Antony Jinman, in January 2010. ETE was formed with the purpose of connecting explorers and schools via an online interactive platform. Through our discussion boards, teachers and their classes can interact directly with explorers and scientists whist they are away on expeditions. ETE educates and inspires children by 'bringing the world into the classroom.'
Why the community needs usBy bringing exciting expeditions and fieldwork projects into the classroom, ETE inspires children and ensures that students gain a true understanding and appreciation for the different worldwide environments. Raising a sense of global community and awareness in the issues around climate change are key areas of our inspirational message. ETE work closely with educational establishments from primary through to university level to raise ambition and aspiration in children and young people.
Our impact on the communitySince January 2010, ETE has delivered its extensive educational outreach programme to over 400 schools reaching around 35,000 students. "I greatly enjoyed my recent visit to Plymouth, and I was very impressed with the work of Education Through Expeditions is undertaking. I was interested to see that the interactive nature of your service offered an engaging experience to pupils, enhancing several areas of the curriculum." Nick Gibb Minister of State for Schools
