Exeter Food Action

Exeter Food Action works with wholesalers, manufacturers, retailers and farmers, rescuing good, nutritious food and preventing it from going to landfill, incineration or being used as animal food.

Before dispatching the food we've saved, we sort and store it in our warehouse on Marsh Barton, where we run fridges, freezers and chillers. Then, with only one full-time and two part-time members of staff, and the support of over fifty amazing volunteers, we deliver it to sixty-four food banks and community groups in Exeter and across Devon, providing food that struggling families and individuals might otherwise be unable to afford.

In 2023 we managed to get 116 tonnes of food onto the tables of people who need it, exceeding the total we were able to provide in the whole of the previous year. To provide some kind of context, that's the weight of three Boeing 737 planes!

Like many organisations, facing ever-rising demand and increased costs, just keeping our fridges and freezers humming costs thousands of pounds a year, as does our rent, so please consider supporting us if you can.
