Bike Bank

Vulnerable adults can learn practical skills in bike maintenance. Unwanted bikes are donated to the project for refurbishment. These are then offered at a reduced cost to people on a low wage to use for exercise to improve their health and save money. They are also made available to using a using a voucher system similar to that used by Food Banks.

Why they need our service

We recognise that there are some people who are keen to get involved in meaningful occupation but are unable to do so, particularly if they struggle to read and write. The Bike Bank offers 'hands on' learning in bike maintenance in a supportive environment. By using unwanted bikes it also reduces landfill and also encourages people to cycle where possible.

Volunteers needed

We have a diverse range of volunteering opportunities from customer service in our childrens' charity shop to mentoring adults who are experiencing isolation, vulnerability and/or other disadvantage to improve their life skills and better manage their own health and wellbeing.
