FareShare South West redistributes surplus food and delivers it to over 140 charities in the region.
At FareShare South West we believe that no good food should go to waste. We save over 200 tonnes per year of quality, tasty in-date food that is destined for waste and redistribute it to our charity members. They then transform it into delicious, nutritious meals for vulnerable people! As part of FareShare UK, we are on a mission to tackle food waste and food poverty head-on.
Why the community needs usWe serve food to over 140 charities and community bodies across the South West, from homeless charities to community lunch clubs and from primary schools to rehabilitation centres. We allow these groups to focus their resources on providing other vital services, and work with them to ensure they receive the food they need. At our Bristol warehouse we also provide training and vocational support to our valued volunteers, aiming to make the volunteering experience as fun and enriching as possible.
Our impact on the communityThe result of FareShare South West's work is about more than meals. For our charity members, providing a meal for service users means a chance to relax, talk and build relationships as well as eating nutritious food. According to 1 in 5 of FareShare charity members say they would have to close without FareShare's support.
Volunteer roles include packing and sorting food orders with the team in our warehouse, general office admin, driving our FareShare vans to deliver food or being a driver's mate on a delivery- and have fun in the process as part of the FSSW family!
