We redistribute surplus food from the food industry to charities and community organisations who use this to support an average of 22,000 vulnerable, isolated and disadvantaged people each week. This reduces the amount of useable food going to landfill and saves charities money from their food budgets. We also use our infrastructure (warehouse and delivery vehicles) to provide volunteering and employability programmes. This enables people who lack tangible skills, relevant experience and confidence to gain two accredited operator's permits. Why the community needs usOur impact on the community
Our partners use the food we provide to feed the homeless, those at risk of becoming homeless, women and children fleeing domestic violence, those suffering with mental and physical conditions, people in alcohol and drug recovery and other vulnerable groups. Last year we redistributed 1,246 tonnes of food - enough for 2.9M meals which on average saved each project £7,900. We supported over 75 individuals to improve their employability.
We would believe to hear from anyone who thinks they can contribute to the charity's operation. by driving one of our vans one morning each week, taking surplus food to charities one-by-one
