FCV Dorcas is a small charity located in the heart of Clerkenwell. Our aim is to reduce loneliness and isolation for elderly people living in the N1 and EC1 areas of Islington. Our clients are elderly, socially isolated individuals who, for various reasons, find it difficult to participate in the community or to enjoy a social life. Our volunteers provide companionship and practical support - a friendly face and a sympathetic ear. We play an essential role in their lives, helping to improve their well-being and reduce loneliness

Our volunteers offer companionship and support for the elderly residents in our local community by providing a range of activities for elderly people including: Our volunteers provide a range of activities which include: One-to-one Befriending visits, Telephone Befriending, a twice-weekly Lunch Club, Shopping Trips, occasional Outings and Events and a thriving weekly Art Club

The majority of our clients are delighted with their volunteer befriender and appreciate and value the weekly visits, phone calls and outings so much. Many of our volunteers and their befrienders become lifelong friends! And they really love the Lunch Club and Shopping trips.
