Forfar Instrumental Band are a community Brass Band based in the Angus town of Forfar since 1896. We bring the brass band sound to a wide number of events within our Community covering the areas of Kirriemuir, Forfar and the Angus Glens. We have even played for Royality - welcoming HRH Earl of Forfar to the town for his inaugural visit in July 2019.
We are a traditional Brass Band made up of 26 members ranging in ability and age- our youngest player is 11 and the eldest is 81. We support our young players by providing weekly music tuition on a free and voluntary basis, we also sponsor their place at the NYBBS (National Youth Brass Bands of Scotland) residential Summer Course where they are taught by some of the UK's finest Brass musicians.
As a community band we are keen to ensure that there are no financial barriers to playing a Brass music so we provide our members with a loan instrument, uniform, music, to allow anyone to play and become a valued member of our Brass Band.
