Film Oxford is a creative arts charity. We deliver creative projects in local communities, aiming to serve groups who are economically or socially disadvantaged, or under-represented in the arts.

Recent projects have included working with young people from the Rose Hill and Blackbird Leys estates, as well as older people from the African Caribbean and LGBTQ+ communities in Oxford. Additionally, we have supported a dedicated group of artists with learning disabilities, known as the Shadowlight Artists, in running art workshops and successfully organising exhibitions.

We run a programme of in-person and online training courses in film and other creative areas, in support of our mission to inspire creativity in the local community and make it available to as many people as possible.  We also support exhibition & screening opportunities, and deliver project work with young people and community groups. We also undertake commercial production and training work, with a preference for socially responsible causes and clients. We have recently collaborated with local museums and charities to produce videos for display or social media purposes. Any profits from trading are allocated to support our work with disadvantaged communities.

We are a non-profit company and registered charity (1041014), which has operated under several different names and at various premises since 1975. We have an extensive online video archive going back to the 1970s. We are also an Art Archive for artworks created by learning disabled artists from the Shadowlight Artists.
