Four age groups Beavers (6-8 years), Cubs (8-10 years), Scouts (10-14 years), Explorers (14-18 years) and Young Leaders (14-18 years) Open to both boys and girls, contributes to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.
Why the community needs usProvides a place for young people to go and be involved through learning by doing in membership of small groups (e.g. Patrol) involving, under adult guidance, progressive discovery and acceptance of responsibility for their own actions and increasing responsibility for others. Stimulating programmes of varied activities including team games, based on the interests and choices of the participants in the new spacious building set in a large natural area allows for more young people to participate.
Our impact on the communityThe new building with access and facilities for wheelchair users, provides a larger much-improved facility for youth groups in Rye and surrounding areas. There is stimulated interest in recruitment of both young people and adult volunteers to Scouting and related groups. The Guide and Brownie groups will use it. It will be available for hire to other local community groups during the day. Environmental projects and outdoor activities are possible in lovely natural area immediately adjacent
