To provide a voice for all users of the Parks, encouraging local participation and acting as a sounding board for new ideas, activities and developments.Hunsbury Hill Country park contains a Scheduled Ancient Monument,Hunsbury Hill Fort, which is currently on the "At Risk" register and one of the projects the Friends are working on is the submission of a bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund to preserve the Fort.
Why the community needs usWe aim to ensure that the Parks in West Hunsbury provide interesting, well maintained and environmentally friendly areas of recreation. We will in the future provide more information for visitor concerning the historical and archaeological aspects of the Country Park. We raise funds to provide extra amenities and maintenance in the Parks. We liaise with the Northampton Borough Council and our local councillor when issues of concern are raised by users of the Parks.
Our impact on the communityTo date we have been instrumental in gaining funding for more play equipment for Hunsbury Hill Country Park and Ladybridge Park. Using funding donated to us by the local County Councillor from his Empowering Fund we have purchased a picnic table and benches, a new sign at the entrance to the Country Park and purchased plants and equipment required for Moulton College students to carry out hedge laying and coppicing.
