We make free birthday cakes for children in Sheffield whose families are unable to provide one
At Free Cakes for Kids Sheffield, we bake birthday cakes for children who wouldn't otherwise get a cake, perhaps due to poverty, homelessness, for looked after children or for children who are receiving support from their school. It's free, friendly and confidential. Families are referred to us by organisations throughout Sheffield who work with families and children. Why the community needs us
We work with many different local charities, schools and social workers across the city who refer families to us for a cake. We bake birthday cakes for children supported by food banks, the NHS, the NSPCC, housing charities, for looked after children and for families living in refuges and hostels. All the money we raise goes directly to providing birthday cakes to children who would otherwise miss out on blowing out their candles on their special day.Our impact on the community
We've baked over 500 cakes for children in the city and have bookings to make many more this year. We are also planning to hold more baking workshops and events - including taking part in the Sheffield Food Festival.
We are looking for new baking and non-baking (e.g delivery) volunteers - get in touch if you would like to help!
