We want your help!

Our school community will celebrate 150 years of service to the children of New Cross on 8 June 2024. We have an ambitious programme to mark this momentous occasion in our school's history with a series of events, designed to leave a permanent record for our community as a memorial. One of our goals is to improve the access to our school for all our stakeholders. We currently have three small gates on each accessible side of our playground.  Our plan is to move the main entrance onto Faulkner Street. We will build new double gates, improving the access for all our families with installation of a ramp to level our playground with that of Faulkner Street.  The gates will have mosaics designed by a local artist in collaboration with all stakeholders (using an inclusive approach to incorporate suggestions from our Kender alumni, our children and their families with a unifying theme).

We also want to build on the experiences of our families who have been attending Kender over the past years to build an archive called "Voices of Kender". We want to create a film of our alumni being interviewed by our current pupils for posterity. We will use this to inspire our children with a love of history and will build cross-generational relationships which will last into the future.

We will record the timeline of our school with an infographic showing momentous events over the past 150 years to show how much (and how little!) things have changed for our local community and our children. This will be available as a souvenir for our party on 8 June 2024.

We will be planting a Black Gum tree to extend the wide range of trees we have at Kender. This tree will have a lifespan of 150-300 years so it will shelter and shade many future generations at our wonderful school.

We know that these are big and expensive projects but we want to be ambitious. The people who built our school were thinking about the future of the children in our care and we are inspired by them to continue.
