Alan Coles' 24-hour Newcastle to London Cycle Challenge

We run a comprehensive programme of fitness activities ranging from chair-based exercises to movement to music in order to promote fitness and flexibility among older people.

Why they need our service

Between August 22nd and 23rd, Alan will be cycling 300 miles in 24 hours from Newcastle to London to raise money for the Furzedown Project. On the way he will cycle through the Yorkshire Hills, through York and Lincoln, through remote villages, arriving in London in less than 24 hours.

We are delighted that Alan has chosen us to benefit from this mammoth challenge, the money which will be used to improve and expand our fitness programme.

Fundraise for us!

Volunteers needed

Most of our services are delivered in partnership with our members who devise lead and organise activities that meet their needs and interests. Additional volunteers are required as: 1. DRIVERS for our adapted MINIBUS; 2. ESCORTS to support passengers with impaired mobility; 3. RECEPTIONISTS to meet and greet our members and visitors; 4. HOME VISITORS to offer conversation & befriending visits to older people who rarely get out. 5. Administrators- Work in our office/remoteley to complete admin tasks that ensure the smooth running of the organisation. 6. Fundraisers- Help us bring in much needed income to maintain/develop our services
