Getaway Girls empowers young women to build confidence, resilience and aspirations, develop new skills and take positive risks in an environment which offers co-operation and support. Getaway Girls has a strong track record of supporting the most vulnerable in Leeds since 1987 We support approximately 800 young women aged 11-25 per year
Why the community needs us
We help to transform young women's lives by building up their confidence and skills and offering opportunities for support, opportunities and fun. We offer group work, community projects, residentials, individual support, schools work, training, arts and sports projects and opportunities for voice and influence. Some examples of our work include Inspiring Futures supporting young women to find the right job or training and Safe Space supporting young women to be safe.
Our impact on the community
Last year 832 young women were supported.832 were more confident and more able to make friends, 825 learnt new skills that will be useful for their future eg cooperation, problem solving and conflict resolution.63 mums with skills supporting children.832 increased their knowledge about issues important to them.33 supported to find jobs or courses.12 helped to settle back into school.45 trained in peer education.62 gained qualification Introduction to Youth Work & 65 volunteers trained.
