Getaway Girls - 30 years of Transforming Young Women's Lives in Leeds

Getaway Girls empowers young women to build confidence, resilience and aspirations, develop new skills and take positive risks in an environment which offers co-operation and support. Getaway Girls has a strong track record of supporting the most vulnerable in Leeds since 1987 We support approximately 800 young women aged 11-25 per year

Why the community needs us
We help to transform young women's lives by building up their confidence and skills eg*Young mums group for mums under 19 years old*Support for refugees and asylum seekers*Cultural Identity and Diversity work*Parenting group for young mums*Positive ID project * Schools work *Support work in children's homes*Peer Education and Volunteers training and support*Residentials focusing on Outdoor Pursuits, team building, Positive Thinking *Introduction to Youth work training

Our impact on the community
Last year 832 young women were supported.832 were more confident and more able to make friends, 825 learnt new skills that will be useful for their future eg cooperation, problem solving and conflict resolution.63 mums with skills supporting children.832 increased their knowledge about issues important to them.33 supported to find jobs or courses.12 helped to settle back into school.45 trained in peer education.62 gained qualification Introduction to Youth Work & 65 volunteers trained.
