Our work targets the most vulnerable young people in Gospel Oak, London Borough of Camden. We provide positive activities, information, advice and guidance and a chance to have fun and make friends in an area which ranks in the bottom 5% of the Government's Indices of Deprivation across all indicators including income level, employment and educational attainment.
Why the community needs usGOAL is based in Queen's Crescent, Gospel Oak, in an area dominated by overcrowded social housing where many young people grow up in households of very limited means, have low aspirations and few opportunities in life. With over 40% of the local population under the age of 19 years, there are severe pressures on services to contain the many causes of social disanvantage ranging from unemployment and substance abuse and broken families to, in recent months, knife crime.
Our impact on the communityWe deliver youth club and sports activities, accredited courses, trips, residential weekends and specialist projects in art, music, drama and sport. Young people are at the heart of everything we do and play a big part in the design and development of projects and in planning youth club sessions.
We are always looking for volunteer youth workers and volunteer mentors.
