Storehouse & Field

Storehouse & Field is the first of its kind. It is an enhanced community food hub in Shafton, Barnsley. This is a place where the local community can get low cost but high quality food, access to a community café, and a range of wraparound support provision tailored to their needs.

We believe that food is a powerful convenor - bringing people together and transforming lives. The enjoyment that many of us get from good food is often stripped away from those with less financial means. Food becomes a worry and a stress, a potential source of anxiety when you wonder how you're going to fill the fridge and the cupboards with nutritious possibilities between now and pay day. Through Storehouse & Field, we are able to support people in gaining access to a host of wonderful ingredients, recipe inspiration, a safe space to be, and an opportunity for wider support through our links with other organisations across the borough.

Storehouse & Field offers a monthly membership scheme, starting at £26 a month, for the Barnsley community. This gives members access to:
- A weekly food shop in our Hub or Food Clubs worth at least £18 a week (3x the value of membership!)
- Access to our community café
- A starter kit upon joining that helps our S&F partners to build their pantry at home (including spices, cooking oil and stock cubes, a recipe binder and a bag for life)
- Exclusive access to food resources: recipes and cooking videos, tips and tricks, workshops and demos with a Michelin star trained Chef
- Access to community driven wraparound support, such as debt and finance management on a 1:1 or small group basis, employment advice and signposting, mental health support, and so on
