GYTCIC is the community arm of Great Yarmouth Town Football Club. For many years we have helped people in our community through a range of projects and now we have joined up with Football Against Dementia CIC, which has worked tirelessly in our community for the last 7 years, to combine our experience and expertise and help more people move forward.
We have 3 core pillars and objectives.
1. Physical Activity
We all know we should do more exercise, to get fitter, enjoy the outdoors and help our mental health. We aim to offer a range of physical activities, open to all and giving a pathway to a better life. We are also using our shop in the heart of Great Yarmouth to be a unique outlet for pre loved, good quality sports and leisure equipment. The shop is called ‘Good Sports and Leisure’ So, if you are having a clear out, or have an old set of golf clubs, tennis racket, gym equipment, fishing rods, trainers, football equipment etc.etc.etc. Please consider donating them to us. We want to be able to offer people a low cost way of trying out sports and leisure activities with the hope they ‘get the bug’. Our Football Against Dementia project raises awareness of dementia and actively seeks to engage with young people to encourage them to try football and learn a little about the potential effects of dementia on loved ones. We are also proud to host an annual celebration event ‘The Cozens Cup’ which is the highlight of our year, it has seen the cup at Carrow Road, The Wellesley and last year it was lifted at a celebration 5 A Side tournament, bringing together young and old, boys and girls to stand up against dementia and enjoy some competitive sport.
2. Employment
Our aim is to inspire people into employment and away from benefits. Take A Chance On Me is a project which combines many unique aspects and is designed to help employers find good quality candidates for relavent positions within their organisations, saving them the time and money associated with recruitment and giving people they may have overlooked the opportunity of a face to face job interview. Weather you are an employer or a jobseeker we want to here from you.
3. Community Support
Our organisation understands that sometimes things can become very challenging and even overwhelming. We want to provide practical support to people when they most need it. Our employment projects will provide food parcels and essential items to registered candidates and we also provide emergency equipment such as sleeping bags, tents through our Safe Harbour project to people who find themselves in genuine crisis. Christmas can be a very stressful time for some. Our Christmas Stocking Campaign project has been going strong for 7 years and has well over 8000 Christmas Stockings and 5 times that amount of larger items distributed to people across Norfolk and Suffolk, giving some Christmas Cheer and showing that people care.
