Groundwork Solent's Mix-up youth project encourages young people to become active community citizens in a range of community based projects(e.g.working on community garden,local nature reserves, mural painting over graffiti,a range of recycling activities, crime awareness,social skills such as cooking)The project is open to any young person aged between 8 and 16 who lives in the local community. These programmes and projects are aimed to increase their confidence in themselves.

Mix up: -gets young and older people working together to improve their local open spaces,-gets people to know their neighbours better,-reduces anti social behaviour when boredom might take over.-gives people of all ages new experiences in a range of activity (e.g cooking, sport, knowing more about their communities)-gives young people a 'can do 'attitude to things that affect their lives -encourages healthy lifestyles (e.g. eating exercise, attitudes to sex.)

Increase attendees involvement in their community through projects and activities which aid young people's feeling of safety within their community and also their connection to their community. Increase in self-confidence and team/ leadership skills. Young people are better able to tackle social and emotional barriers. All young people that regularly attend gain new skills and experiences that increase their confidence. Improved relationships with older people.
