Since 1931 Hamworthy Park Paddling Pool has been the heart of many local children's summer holidays. On it's grand opening the Mayoress of Poole said that she hoped "the new park would be of benefit for all time to the people and particularly the children of Hamworthy". Unfortunately the base has fallen into a state of disrepair and without public support it is likely that the paddling pool will be lost if funds cannot be raised for a refurbishment.
Why they need our serviceWe are seeking to raise a substantial donation (about £30k) from the public towards the cost of replacing the base of Hamworthy Park Paddling Pool and improving the area around the pool. The Friends have identified a number of grant funds that applications are being prepared for however, as grant funding is in enormous demand, proving that the local community is willing to invest themselves will strengthen our applications and increase the chances of our success.
Plan and expected resultsWe hope to raise enough funds, through both public donations and grant funding, to replace the base of the paddling pool and preserve this wonderful asset for current and future generations. Our further aims are to increasing accessibility for disabled children and to make the operation of the paddling pool more efficient, reducing the annual running costs which will help make the asset more sustainable.
