Bell Buddies

Bell Buddies is a youth handbell group, founded in 2010 by Meg Hostler and the Finchampstead Handbell Ringers. Weekly rehearsals are led by Meg on Monday evenings, 7.00-8.00pm, in St. James' Church Centre, Finchampstead. We're grateful for the support we receive from the Berkshire Community Foundation, which allows us to continue this valuable project for children and young people.

Why they need our service

It's important for children and young people in our community to be able to discover the joy of making music together. As well as teaching them the skills needed to play handbells, we aim to foster a sense of teamwork among the group, and a sense of achievement for each individual. The group enjoys practising together, and working to improve their musical skills, ready to perform to parents and others in the community.

Plan and expected results

We aim to continue providing fun, engaging and interesting rehearsals for this group, as they expand their musical and social skills. Making music with other young people is a great way to make friends, and also a fun way to learn to give back to the community, by taking part in community events and concerts. With your support, we can buy percussion instruments for the young ringers, and also purchase an interesting and challenging selection of music, to keep young minds occupied and active!
