To improve the lives of children with hydrocephalus (water on the brain) across the UK.
Every year around
1 in 770 babies will develop hydrocephalus. It is life-threatening and there is no cure, however the earlier the condition is detected the better the outcome for the child and so early diagnosis is key.
The aim of our charity is to improve the lives of children affected by hydrocephalus and the families who love and care for them.
We do this by:
- raising awareness of the condition, to improve understanding and acceptance
- funding front-line workers to undertake training to improve patient care
- connecting families affected to build networks and reduce isolation.
Since launching the charity in 2018 we have been inundated with families who believe that opportunities to spot their child's hydrocephalus through routine head circumference measurement were missed. In response in 2022 we launched a national campaign called
'Get-a-Head' . The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the importance of head circumference measurements in babies and for an improved set of national standards so that no baby slips through the net.

We are looking for volunteers to help with our fundraising events throughout the year. Volunteers must be compassionate, enjoy speaking to people and willing to have fun. Events include, music festivals, summer fayres, carnivals and sporting events
