HSTAR Scotland is a voluntary led and community-based organisation managed by a diverse professional volunteers with diverse community development expertise. The organization has the following objectives:§ To advance health and wellbeing through the provision of responsive multicultural-multilingual counselling and therapy support for women (including refugees, asylum seekers and migrants) who are affected by abuse and trauma, and through promoting mental health care awareness, delivering focused training and volunteering initiatives, physical and mental wellbeing support programmes. § To advance education through offering informative activities, training opportunities and lobbying initiatives in relation to mental health, abuse, and trauma: empowering engagement and participation programs for women and stakeholders regarding abuse, trauma and mental health awareness.§ To prevent and relief of suffering for women affected by abuse and trauma at any level through initiating and facilitating care provision, confidence building and empowerment activities, offering guidance, assistance and responsive support programs. § To promote equality and diversity through celebration of cultural heritage and inclusion in multicultural Scotland and provide empowerment and capacity building support as a means of tackling isolation and promoting integration and active citizenship. Through our objectives, we aim at stimulating, promoting and assisting in empowering the diverse women and families and enhance their integration as new Scots in Scotland. We are able to facilitate this through initiating, developing and delivering responsive support platforms for advancing their mental and overall wellbeing as well as enhancing their social, cultural, economic and political participation at various levels locally, regionally and nationally, where feasible. Our ultimate goal is to enhance the diverse women’s mental and physical wellbeing, to advance their skills and positive life experiences, to empower them as equal citizens with full rights, dignity, respect and pride. We achieve this via not only seeking to eliminate abuse for women, but also to empower these women to be and become active citizens and equal partners. This entails the development of plans, programs & structures that allow us: · To support equal responsive provisions for mental health and care provisions, education, citizenship, self-esteem and empowerment, in line with the social justice agenda and the affiliated support provisions frameworks for women in Scotland. · To enable a voice for the diverse women and families in all aspects of policy and support provision developments, which are relevant to them and their families and the wider society. Having a voice at consultations and policy development platforms, for example, is essential to empower these women and ensure responsive care provisions are acknowledge and provided by all stakeholders. · To support the diverse women and their families in building and sustaining social connections: initiating, developing and facilitating platforms to advance social bridges, social bonds and links with their respective communities locally and regionally. · To facilitate and deliver multicultural responsive therapy support provisions to enhance and advance their wellbeing, safety and stability, support development opportunities and skills, etc.· To enhance and progress opportunities for the diverse women to develop and experience empowerment via participative democracy structures and programs: through activities and direct engagement facilitating their participation in, for example, consultations, local developments, policy and service provision planning, delivering guidance structures among the diverse women and their families enabling them to take an active role while stimulating and promoting their cultural heritage and integration leadership. · Enhance and advance the mental wellbeing of the diverse women via facilitating equal participation in cultural programs while enabling them to celebrate and cherish their cultural heritage as part of their equal and inclusive citizenship.

Volunteers needed

We’re looking for an enthusiastic person with experience of fundraising, research into new sources of grants and funding. We need to become our supporters’ charity of choice, maximise our opportunities, work proactively and engage more donors to ensure that we are here when people need us most. This role involves organising our fundraising team including delegating jobs throughout the year and arranging the fundraising calendar. As Healed Scars embark on finding more ways to support female abuse and trauma survivors to recover from the impact of COVID 19, we are seeking an experienced Fundraising Officer to nurture existing and develop new funding relationships to grow our income and facilitate the development of our charitable programme.
