Why the community needs usSince 1997 Hettys has helped over 4000 families to deal with the stress and anxiety of having a loved one suffer from problematic drug or alcohol use. Familes, whether together or apart, need to know someone cares and that they are not alone. Hettys supports local volunteers into work, and campaigns to raise the profile of the innocent victims of substance abuse - families/partners and children.
Our impact on the communityThrough our support Mums, Dads, partners and grandparents have a better understanding of addiction and related behaviours. Feel better able to manage their stress and have more confidence to support their relative to access treatment. Families report reduction in isolation, feeling safer in their own homes, having choice/control back over their lives and an improvement of their health and wellbeing. The work we do in families also works towards the reduction of reoffending in substance users
