After the break-up of a family 100,000 children a year are in danger of loosing contact with a parent no longer able to share the family home. We know a child's emotional development is enhanced by maintaining contact, where possible, with both parents. Sessions are held at Hall Green weekly on a Saturday afternoon, whilst at Smith's Wood sessions are held fortnightly also on a Saturday afternoon. Both Centres are accredited by the National Association of Child Contact Centres www.naccc.org.uk

Why the community needs us

In the UK nearly one in three children under the age of 16 live in single-parent families. Children with hampered emotional development tend to lag behind in education, they are more likely to get into trouble, have difficulty forming relationships and often become teenage parents. Contact centres provide a short term support to provide a breathing space enabling families to move on to self-regulated contact.

Our impact on the community

During the year ending 31st March 2013 Hall Green brought together children and an absent parent on 269 occasions, which probably would not have happened without the centres support. Smith's Wood on the Chelmsley Wood Estate managed to bring 132 families together. A succesful outcome is when a family can move on and make their own arrangements for contact
