All parents struggle at one time or another whether Illness, domestic abuse, loneliness or exhaustion can happen to anyone. Home-Start in East Lancashire is here to support families to make sure the early years count so that no child's future is limited. We work with families in our community, from pre-birth until children are 13 years old. Our volunteers give compassionate and confidential support, tailored to each family. We help them to build on their strengths based on what they tell us they need. Our support includes home-visiting by volunteers, group activities and trips and outings. All of our volunteers have parenting experience, so they understand the challenges. They go a thorough Preparation Course and are given ongoing expert support by our paid members of staff. "You are our support, our go to, our help. Without you and the group many of us wouldn't have known what to do in our situations. The support and the friends we have met are truly amazing. Thank you."
Why the community needs us
"I am really grateful for all the help I have had from the volunteer and coordinator. We are not used to people actually caring about us and going that extra mile to help us."Through our projects, we bring real and lasting positive change to the lives of local children and families. Our help reduces isolation, improves mental health, keeps children safe, alleviates family stress, connects families with their communities and community resources, and equips parents with the tools to be the parent
