Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde (HSRI) provides holistic, compassionate support to families with at least one child under the age of five. Our mission is to offer both emotional and practical support, helping parents build strong, nurturing relationships with their children and giving them the best possible start in life. 

We support families through a range of tailored services, including one-to-one volunteer home visiting, intensive family support, peer support groups, and parenting programmes. Our aim is to help parents grow in confidence, strengthen their bond with their children, and build lasting connections within their communities. 

The families we support are often among the most marginalised in society, facing challenges such as poor mental health, isolation, poverty, and the impact of trauma.  

All of our services are trauma-informed and delivered by a dedicated team of trained staff and committed volunteers. Our volunteers—many with lived experience—are supported and guided by our skilled Family Support Coordinators and Group Workers. We also have Intensive Family Support and Wellbeing Workers who provide one-to-one support during times of crisis. 

Taking a Whole Family Wellbeing approach, our support is flexible and open-ended. We work with families for as long as they need us, provided they have a pre-school aged child. On average, families receive support for 18 months, with each intervention tailored to their unique needs. In addition to home-based support, every family is offered access to our six term-time community groups, designed in response to local needs. These include: Family Group, Perinatal Group, ASN Group, New to Scotland (Inverclyde only), Gallowhill Family (Renfrewshire only) Dad’s Group, and Parents Group.
