We currently have 3 projects which meet a variety of needs but are all focussed on the area of St Mellons in east Cardiff: the Step Out Fund (a hyper-local scholarship fund helping students to overcome the financial barriers of pursuing further or higher education or vocational training); families work (providing support to parents/carers of children with additional needs and working to improve family cohesion) and kids clubs (providing a safe, open-access space for school years 4-6).
Why they need our serviceSt Mellons is a housing estate in east Cardiff. According to the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation, several areas within the estate are in the top 1% most deprived in the whole of Wales.
Plan and expected resultsWe are here for the long-term; many of us have been involved in the community for more than 10 years. We believe that by living life alongside people we will see long-lasting, sustainable change for the better, with greater social cohesion, improved mental and physical health, greater self-awareness and emotional literacy, better motivation and greater community focus.
