We are a community-based grassroots football club and charity within the community of Horden, County Durham, SR8 4LH.  The community experiences significant social and economic problems, with the village now being in the top 3% of the most deprived areas in England and Wales. 

23.2% of children under 16 living in families with absolute low income (poverty) in Horden compared with 15.3% nationally. There are very few sports related venues and activities within Horden for children and young people to attend or participate in. They have to travel at least 3 km’s to visit the nearest sports centre complex or leisure centre. Childhood obesity is on the increase with 29.8% of 11 year olds in Horden obese in comparison with 20.0% nationally. 44.6% of 11 year olds in Horden are overweight or obese in comparison with 34.2% nationally.

The football club was established in 2017, in response to local demand within the community of Horden. Historically, football teams have played on the welfare park for nearly 100 years and it is vitally important to continue providing the community with a football ground and football training facilities to encourage, children, youth and adults to participate in physical activities and exercise.

We provide football training and coaching for children, young people and adults within our community using community-based facilities.

The football club has 30+  adult men, 30+ adult women and 150+ school aged children (registered)  participating in regular football training, coaching and physical exercise activities in Horden. 

The football club provides all participants with a sense of community, something they want to belong to, to aspire, to achieve, to be part of a team, to take pride in what they do when they represent the local community within Horden.  As a club we take pride in representing our community.
