A registered charity with a fundamental commitment to young people, we offer an open-access youth club 5 evenings a week with a yearly programme of sporting and other activities; during the day we host various organisations helping young people failing at or excluded from school. Young people benefit from constants in their lives and they still need somewhere offering a variety of activities and both informal and formal mentoring, where they know they are safe and will be heard and encouraged.

Economic deprivation prevents local young people from travelling and paying for activities further afield. The area has a high proportion of children and ethnic minorities, and the fastest-growing population in the city. Our building has a catering kitchen and an entertainments licence. The community can support their local facility financially by hiring it on Saturdays and transforming it into a venue for a wide variety of celebratory events, with profits funding work with young people.

One of our Trustees, winner of the Club's Majestic Breakdance Trophy in 1984, says: "The Club played a crucial role in my life, providing diversionary activities which kept me off the streets at a time when I was uncertain about my future. Building relationships with staff and volunteers provided a level of continuity and safety for me as a young man, which I would not have asked for but needed at the time. They built up my aspirations and ultimately I chose to become a probation officer."
