Our purpose is to place young people aged 10-25 at the centre of our thinking, in order to help them fulfill their potential and empower them as individuals. Ieuenctid Tysul Youth is a voluntary youth organisation and registered charity based in Llandysul, West Wales. During the last 23 years, our purpose has evolved to provide a wide range of education and support services to young people irrespective of their race, gender, background or ability. The main focus of our work is to support young people through the transition to adulthood, from dependence to independence. We do this through a comprehensive programme of life skills training, emotional and personal development workshops, volunteering and workplace opportunities and community regeneration and inter-generational activities.Young people are encouraged to participate and to be actively involved in decision making processes and where possible to assume responsibility for organising and delivering the programme.
Why the community needs us
We have overseen numerous community regeneration projects, strengthening community cohesion and improving local areas. Our Art in the park project saw the installation of handmade park benches and carved plaques to improve local green spaces. We have also installed tables, picnic benches, flower boxes and bins in an area that is well used by the community as a recreation area.We work closely with local residential homes and the elderly to reduce isolation and improve community cohesion.
Our impact on the community
We support over 100 young people and their families every year many of whom are severely disadvantaged, ruraly isolated and have poor access to support services and developmental opportunities. Many of our beneficiaries become volunteers and engage directly in giving something back to their community by helping others. We provide a safe environment where young people can develop and flourish, develop healthy relationships and improve their longer term life chances through positive role modelling.
