Making a difference for people and places through inclusive cultural, heritage, and arts projects
Invisible Palace brings people together, around shared interests, for collective activity. Our projects include Boundaries - 2016-18 - which was ope to all but offered targeted support for elders, young people and people with learning disabilities. Activities such as research, walks, talks, and visits were developed into a performance event and a capital works project, transforming the Boundaries gate entrance to Crystal Palace Park. The Meeting Place - 2018 - continued to bring volunteers together for free social and cultural activities including gardening, music, walks, talks and art. Defy Gravity - 2019 - inspired by the cultural and sporting heritage of Crystal Palace Park is new ongoing work with schools. Pupils take part in circus arts, parkour and stunt work plus skateboarding and rock climbing. Through partnership working with local businesses and community groups participation is possible for young people in challenging activities that build resilience and confidence.
Why the community needs usAs small local charity Invisible Palace is able to respond quickly to need through partnership working, mobilising limited resources and volunteer time to great effect. With Covid-19, since the last week in April, we have worked in partnership with Paxton Green Time Bank and local business Eastern Cuisine to provide 60 hot meals once a week to people shielding, isolating or in food poverty. Our impact on the communityWe would like to thank the National Lottery Heritage Fund, London Borough of Bromley, Crystal Palace Community Trust, National Lottery Community Fund, Culture Seeds from Mayor of London and local business Eastern Cuisine for supporting these projects. Additional support will help us to continue responding quickly to ever changing circumstances as well as developing future projects.
