We are the largest provider of respite care in Bracknell Forest and we help and support families who have children with disabilities and special needs, regardless of race, religion, marital status, ethnic origin, physical or mental capacity. We run weekend and holiday respite clubs for the children to give parents time out and stimulate them in a safe and fun environment along with a whole host of other clubs.
Why the community needs usKonnections raise's awareness within the community of the needs of families with children who have disabilities or special needs to help make areas more accessable or give people a better understanding of special needs. We assist families with respite care in locating sources of information and encourage development of relationships between parents by running parent groups where we offer a programme of support, information, advocacy, outside speakers and of course the odd treat!
Our impact on the communityWe have seen huge growth over the past few years in all areas of our work. The numbers of children accessing our respite care has increased hugely as has our youth club attendance. We have started 2 new projects within the last year, one being our youth sailing project and the other being 'Bands'-our sibling support group. Our monday evening youth club is rapidly growing and we need to increase our staff capacity in a whole number of areas to cope with demand.
