The Ladywood Project is situated in a large social housing estate in an area of high unemployment and child poverty. It provides support for families and individuals looking at their needs be they financial, emotional, health related or social. The services we offer are guided by the local community and are often a response to the ever changing political and economic climate which impacts on the everyday lives of ordinary people especially those with little or no income.
Why the community needs usWe benefit the community by being a local organization which offers support and advice services to local families and individuals. We provide a drop-in four days per week, leisure activities, trips, as well as play and stay groups. We offer advice and help on a wide range of issues: debt, housing, benefits, child related issues and domestic abuse. We work closely with the local credit union to provide financial resources to residents.
Our impact on the communityLast year local people were assisted financially; £1million raised in unclaimed benefit, 56 families helped with school uniform, 205 children's lunches provided and £500 emergency assistance with fuel. Local people have ownership of the Project as they identify the needs and help to raise funds for the services we provide. Parents/grandparents with no family nearby are helped to overcome feelings of isolation and have improved self confidence in their child care abilities
