We are a unique health education charity working in partnership with local primary schools and engaging with others in the community to "help children make healthy choices". We enhance the "Healthy Schools" programmes using a series of specially devised, age-appropriate programmes delivered in our high-tech mobile classroom. Our specially trained Educators use interactive techniques, puppetry and CBBC audio-visuals to deliver memorable messages to "help the children make healthy choices".
Why the community needs usRising levels of obesity, binge drinking and smoking among young people, together with the consequent anti-social behaviour, are clear indications that many, sadly, don't place health or citizenship as a priority in their lives. Our school programmes are designed to tackle all of these issues.Launched in 2001, we now work with over 13,000 primary schoolchildren in Greater Bristol each year, making a real and lasting difference to their lives and those of the community in which they live.
Our impact on the communityThrough our special teaching techniques, and engaging learning environment, we give children skills to chose healthy lifestyles and adopt an enhanced sense of self-esteem and self-confidence. These skills help them to walk away, with confidence, from the influences and pressures they may face from "so-called friends" who want them to experiment with harmful substances. Our programmes also help children stay safe from bullying and to develop positive relationships.
