Established in 1998 to contribute to the regeneration of North Liverpool, Liverpool Lighthouse is the UK's first designated urban gospel arts centre. Our services and activities include an alternative education programme to attract excluded young people off the local streets; skills training for 16-19 year-olds not in employment, education or training and for various adult groups; music; dance and drama performances and conferences.
Why the community needs usThe purpose of Liverpool Lighthouse is to use arts, education and training as tools to improve lives of members of the community in Merseyside. Inparticularly various disadvantaged and disaffected groups, especially those in North Liverpool. Liverpool Lighthouse provides a range of activities and programmes to promote active and healthy lifestyles and healthy eating for the local community, particularly older people.
Our impact on the communityYouth Connect works closely with Merseyside Police and was recently credited with contributing to the reduction of anti-social behaviour among young people in the North Liverpool area. Over 340 GSCE qualifications were gained at Harmonize, car crime has decreased by 75% since Youth Connect opened, Liverpool FC regularly choose our young people for their Young Person of the Year and our behavioural management policy is championed by the LEA.
