C.H.I.L.D Trust (Community Help Improving Learning and Development) was set up in 1999 and is a charitable organisation. Our primary aim is to provide support to the local community through a wide range of services and networks. We have strong professional working partnerships with both statutory and non-statutory organisations, allowing us to learn new skills and share our knowledge and experience with them, giving the service user the best information and support.
Why the community needs usWe recognise and work with the difficulties that our community faces on a daily basis, rural inaccessibility is one of the major factors that increases the chances of communities and individuals sinking into isolation, with concomitant effects of lack of involvement, low confidence, future growth, and high unemployment. All this will have a negative impact on services and development with increased deprivation and neglect being the outcome.
Our impact on the communityWe have already taken up a small scale research project which identifies that parents want to be involved with their children's learning and are keen to engage in working in partnership. During this time supportive relationships were formed with parents helping them to build their own support network. Since the pilot project took place the workshops have evolved and continue to grow. This has highlighted that there is a need for collaborative work such as this.
We would love to add to our list of volunteers to enhance the community cohesion.
