Access to fresh and healthy food should be every humans right. I don't know about you but I can look back in my life and remember times when a bowl of porridge or a tin of beans and some stale bread was all I had in the cupboard. Or have you ever been to the shops and wondered how £15 was going to feed you for over a week? I have shared stories with families living in poverty who skip 2 or 3 meals a day just so their kids can eat a hot meal that day. The stress to survive meant that I and they didn't have the energy or capacity to get out of that situation or concentrate on health, well-being, studies and work. Equally, the knock-on effect for families is you have less tolerance and patience for those around you and relationships can breakdown.
I know having that extra fiver or tenner in your pocket can make the real difference. This is why we know the pantry is needed! We can make £7 go to £15, £25 or even £35 worth of food items, personal items and household items for an individual. That means the locals can either access more food than they could afford in the supermarket, or save up to £25 on a weekly shop.
We don't want those who are in the harshest conditions not to have access to the food club so we need you to help us put in a membership for those families so that when they walk into the Pantry they are not being treated like they're receiving a hand out, but instead they walk in with their membership card with credit on the system and they feel equal to everyone else picking their items off the shelf.
All monies raised will go in to support the running costs of The Pantry.
