For the past 7 months we have been delivering Friday night food packages to the elderly, vulnerable and sick in the local and wider community.
These food packages are not only filled with delicious 'made with love' kosher chicken soup and challah, they always contain lots of other surprise goodies - enough for 2 meals per recipient - who are always so grateful to receive the food and, even more importantly, to have a regular smiling face visit them every week to deliver the goodies.
The 'Made with Love' Chicken Soup Run was originally started in March by Yochy Davis and Lesley Adams together with a team of volunteers all working from their homes. Since September the service has now been taken over by Loughton Shul, with Lesley Adams still organising the weekly deliveries supported by Rabbi Abrams and Rebbetzen Abrams and helped by a team of wonderful volunteers who give up their time tirelessly every week to prepare, package and deliver the bags throughout the area. We are also incredibly grateful to those people that have in the past, or continue to donate food items to enable us to run this service at either very little or no cost to the recipients.
We would like to continue the 'made with love chicken soup run' for as long as we can to as many people as we can that would benefit from the service - but to do this we need more donations to enable us to offer this free of charge to those that find themselves unable to pay.
