At Made In Hackney we believe everyone should have access to enough nutritious, delicious food of their preference.

We collaborate with communities to provide free meals and share the skills to cook and eat more plants to improve the health of people & the planet. We support people to improve their health, create communities that they want to be part of, and tackle the climate crisis through dietary change.

In our 10 years of existence we’ve collaborated with over 100,000 Londoners and impacted 400,000 people by inspiring them to cook and eat more plants.

We work with people with health conditions such as asthma, type 2 diabetes, weight management challenges, high blood pressure or anxiety and depression – and see first hand the positive health outcomes when people improve their diet by learning to cook and eat better in a social setting.

The food support service was set up in March 2020 as a response to COVID and is now a permanent part of our work. It provides not just food but connection and care to people hit by crises. Each week we deliver six delicious, culturally varied plant-based meals direct to people’s door by cycle courier. For many people the friendly chat with the meal delivery volunteer and follow up welfare calls are as important as the meals.
