Please support us to improve the health and wellbeing of the people of Islington, North London
Manor Gardens is a health and wellbeing charity based in Finsbury Park, relieving needs arising from sickness, disability and old age, promoting mental and physical good health and increasing social inclusion. We break down taboos around mental health through our Mental Health Champions, we promote physical wellbeing through showing people how to cook and eat healthy meals, we befriend older people, support refugees to access health care, support people who've had a stroke and run a Preschool.
Why the community needs usOur local community is very diverse and based in one of the most deprived parts of London, often overlooked due to the pockets of considerable affluence close by. Large numbers of isolated older people and people with disabilities live close by and we reach them through our Friendship Network and Stroke Club. Our area is also home to people who have come to this country for refuge who need help getting healthcare. Our work breaking down taboos around mental health is vital for wellbeing.
Our impact on the communityOur services support people throughout Islington and in the boroughs of Camden, Enfield, Haringey, Hackney and Newham. Some work is carried out more widely across London, particularly for our FGM services. We supported 754 beneficiaries and reached 10,032 through outreach events and a further 800 through the Summer Wellbeing Festivals. We trained 1,005 people, and we put on 176 events and 205 outreach activities.
