Our main aim is to enhance the lives of children and promote their development and education by providing access to good quality toys, games, resource books and play equipment suitable for children aged from a few months to early teens, including those with special needs or from minority groups. Merry Go Round helps children learn through play, gives advice to parents and carers on which toys are best for individual children and is fun!
Why the community needs us
Our two toy libraries benefit families and childcare groups with children from a wide variety of backgrounds. These include ones with disabilities or from minority ethnic groups, or single parent families. Many can't afford good quality toys or don't know which toys will help their children's development. We give children the opportunity to take home really good quality toys which have lots of play value, aimed at their individual age/stage and ability.
Our impact on the community
'I'm so glad we joined the toy library, there's a huge variety of toys to choose from.. It's a great way to test a toy before going out and buying one, and it helps children learn to share. I really like it when Hannah chooses the dolls house as I enjoy playing with it with her and we go home laden with toys to keep her entertained' Debbie (parent)
We changed to being an online click and collect service at the beginning of the Pandemic, as families really needed toys to keep their children entertained.
Families can now choose toys and book a collection time in the comfort of their own homes!
