MHA Communities - Winchester offers support and friendship to older people across the Winchester District living in their own homes; helping to maintain independent living, improve well-being and reduce isolation
Why the community needs us
Helping older people who may be isolated or lonely for whatever reason feel part of the community. Services include at home befriending and a range of weekly social activities, all of which are supported by our team of volunteers. We aim to improve quality of life for older people and also to provide volunteering opportunities for people from all sectors of society.
Our impact on the community
Enabling older people to remain in their own homes for longer and improving their quality of life. Activities such as our Exercise Classes and Walking Group also make a contribution to older people's physical well-being and health.Volunteers benefit in a number of ways. Volunteering enables people to gain work experience, give back to their local community and have a sense of purpose. It can also help the long term unemployed learn new skills while seeking employment
