Men in Sheds MK was launched in March 2012 with the support of Age UK Milton Keynes. The organisation provides an opportunity (primarily but not exclusively) for older men to meet together and engage in a wide range of activities: woodwork, metalwork and model making, electronics, 3D printing and laser cutting/engraving, bookbinding, sewing, crochet and art activities. It provides a space for members to socialise, participate in personal and community projects and supports improved health and wellbeing in later life.
Why the community needs us
We apply our practical DIY and design skills to projects which support other community groups in achieving their goals.
Our impact on the community
As well as applying our practical skills to support other community groups, we provide a sense of wellbeing and achievement to men who may no longer have a channel to do this, perhaps due to no longer being employed, being in poor health, or having other limitations in their lives. Men In Sheds aims to provide a communal workshop, well equipped, where each may share and learn new skills, helping themselves but most of all enjoying themselves.
