MK Act provides domestic abuse survivors in Milton Keynes with support and refuge.
At MK Act, our mission is to provide high-quality, life-saving support to families experiencing domestic abuse. Abuse isn’t just physical, it can be emotional, psychological, financial, or coercive, and often continues for years before someone seeks help.
We offer confidential advice, advocacy, and refuge accommodation for women and children fleeing violence. Every day, we work with survivors to improve their safety, rebuild their confidence, and help them move from fear to freedom.
Domestic abuse is a devastating and widespread issue:
2 people a week are killed by a current or former partner in the UK.
1 in 5 women residents in the city report experiencing domestic abuse.
In Milton Keynes, repeat incidents are among the highest in the Thames Valley.
The need is urgent and growing. On average, a person will suffer abuse 35 times before calling the police. Last year, over 2,500 people turned to MK Act for help. We supported 100 families a week, and ensured that 100% of those in immediate danger had a safety plan within 48 hours.
