Our aim is provide high quality support services to families experiencing domestic violence and abuse. Abuse is psychological as well as physical and can go on for years. We work with clients to improve their safety, meet their needs and reduce their vulnerability and suffering. MK-ACT gives free confidential advice, support and information to anyone in the community experiencing domestic violence and abuse and refuge accommodation for women and children escaping violence at home.

Why the community needs us
Our work supports survivors of domestic violence to make positive choices to keep themselves and their children safe and to improve their futures and life chances. "It's my decisions and planning now, I am a much stronger person". We are a local charity that provides quality support services to families experiencing domestic abuse. We work with over 100 families' everyday to help them move on from fear and abuse.

Our impact on the community
Over 2 victims per week are killed by current or ex-partners. 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men in the UK will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. Milton Keynes has the highest repeat level of incidents in the Thames valley area. On average a person will be assaulted 35 times before they call the police. Last year we supported over 2000 who were affected by domestic abuse. 100% of these people who needed it, had a safety plan within 48 hours.
