MK Kids with Diabetes is an organisation affiliated to Diabetes UK providing support to children with type 1 diabetes and their families. They provide information for newly diagnosed children, campaign for better standards of care and support from local schools and hospitals; fun events for social networking so that children can learn from other children with the condition and feel less isolated; education events with guest speakers.

Type 1 Diabetes is tough for anyone - particularly a child or young person. There is no let-up; numerous injections, blood tests, hypos, long-term health risks, impact on diet and general wellbeing. Many children with the condition will not know any others in their school environment. So, our organisation brings children and their families/carers together to form special friendships and support with their condition. We also campaign to get the best out of schools and hospitals.

Feedback we have from families is very positive. They appreciate our fun and supportive approach - improving happiness, wellbeing and networking for children and young people with type 1 diabetes. They like the great impact our events have on their child's outlook, the strength it gives them to cope; both child and parent, and the forming of lifelong friendships with others with the condition.
