The Milton Keynes Youth Korfball Trust (MKYKT) runs events, competitions and raffles to raise money to support the development of korfball in Milton Keynes and Buckingham for children and young people aged 20 or under. On a quarterly basis we award funds, upon request, to deserving groups and individuals to support the development of youth korfball.
Why the community needs usKorfball is a mixed-sex team sport that is fast, fun and collaborative. In Korfball players throw and catch a ball with the objective scoring goals into a high basket called a Korf. It looks similar to netball and basketball but it is unique. We love Korfball because boys and girls have equal roles it teaches the values of team work that it gets the children and young people fitter and it is very sociable.
Our impact on the communityMKYKT will help more children and young people play Korfball. Through playing Korfball the young people will get fitter, make friends and many opportunities will open up to them to play and compete from a local level all the way through to international standard. To date we have supported six children represent England at korfball. We also work with up to 500 children through schools and clubs through tournaments, coaching and development of teachers.
